KAWS
: HOLIDAY KOREA
Jul. 19. 2018 - Aug. 19.
Jamsil Seokchon Lake
One of the most famous artists of our time, KAWS thought about relaxation, looking up, and shutting the world around him, resulting in KAWS: HOLIDAY, featuring his most signature artwork COMPANION to float on water.
Considered one of the most relevant artists of his generation, KAWS's first artwork to float on the water.
“KAWS: HOLIDAY” is a monumental inflatable COMPANION artwork spanning 28 meters, the largest sculptural endeavour by the artist to date, and also the first floating in the water project. What was KAWS thinking as he created this monumental, inflatable work? “Relaxation, looking up and shutting out the world around me." All the public in Seoul will have the opportunity to spend a relaxing and fun summer along with his COMPANION.
The show will also be accompanied by a series of limited-edition products.

KAWS

KAWS engages audiences beyond the museums and galleries in which he regularly exhibits. His prolific body of influential work straddles the worlds of art and design to include paintings, murals, large-scale sculptures, street art, and graphic and product design. Admired for his larger-than-life sculptures and hard-edge paintings that emphasize line and colour, KAWS’ cast of hybrid cartoon and human characters are perhaps the strongest examples of his exploration of humanity.  He often draws inspiration and appropriates from pop culture animations to form a unique artistic vocabulary for his works across various mediums. Highly sought-after by collectors inside and outside of the art world, KAWS’ artworks, with their broad appeal, establish him as a uniquely prominent artist in today’s culture.
