Masterpieces from three museum

Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, Figueres, Spain

The Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, created by the artist himself, is responsible for managing the Dalí Theater-Museum located in Figueres, in Salvador Dalí’s hometown. At the very expressed wish of Dalí, the ruined theatre has turned into a museum under the direction of Dalí himself. This surrealist museum, restored with an artistic passion, is filled with Dalí's symbolic sculptures and icons all around the murals. It is also where Salvador Dali is buried in a crypt.

Salvador Dali Museum, Florida, USA

Located in Florida, the Dali museum in Florida was established in 1942 for 200 Salvador Dali's works collected over 45 years by Moss and his wife. It has gained more fame for its surreal and dynamic art gallery and architecture specially designed to protect artworks from natural disasters. The collection has been enriched to over 2,400 Salvador Dali artworks.

Museo Nacional Centro De Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain
Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía houses brilliant masterpieces of Spain's leading painters like Picasso and Salvador Dali. A number of contemporary artworks of Joan Miro, Juan Gris, and René Magritte, who led the art world in the early 20th century are represented in the collection.

The Surrealist master’s subconscious thoughts and imagery world

Salvador Dali (1904-1989)

“Every morning when I wake up, I experience an exquisite joy - the joy of being Salvador Dali”

Salvador Dali was born on May 11, 1904, in Figueres, Spain, a town near Barcelona. Young Dali was encouraged to practice art with many different styles such as Impressionism and Cubism.

Later in the 1920s, Dali learned about Sigmund Freud's theories about dreams and subconscious minds and developed his own approach, called the 'paranoiac-critical method' which invokes optical illusions in a subconscious state. Dali also worked with his friend, Luis Buñuel who was a pioneering film director, to produce the Surrealist and avant-garde movies which were responded to as controversial, yet unprecedented.

The nuclear bomb explosion in Hiroshima Nagasaki in 1945 was one of the shocking events to Salvador Dali. It encouraged him to delve into nuclear physics and announce Mystical Manifesto.

Dali’s love of his life, Gala is the most important figure in his entire life. She often appears in his works and was described as a religious or sensual figure.

Other than canvas works, Dali also dedicated his passion for theatrical stage design, interior design, and construction, jewels, and fashion. Salvador Dali is considered to be one of the most influential figures in modern art history until today.
